Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda: The Best Spa Hotels in Italy

There are spa hotels, and then there’s Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda—a place that sets the bar so high that everything else feels a little less special afterward.

I had always heard that Lefay is the best spa hotel in Italy, but experiencing it firsthand was something else entirely. This place is pure magic, and even more so because G surprised me with a weekend getaway here for our first Valentine’s together. 💕✨

Needless to say, Lefay now has a special place in my heart.

Getting to Lefay and Lago di Garda

One of the best things about Lefay Garda is that it’s so easy to reach. We drove from Milan in just about 1 hour, , which makes it the perfect weekend escape—close enough to be convenient, yet far enough to feel like you’ve stepped into another world. You can also take a train from Milan, the fastest takes less than 1 hr.

If you are flying, I would suggest flying to Milan or Begramo and taking either a train or a car to get there. Bare in mind that Bergamo doesn't have a train station and you would have to get a taxi to the Bergamo train Station which is 6km away from the airport.

Lefay also has a second location in the Dolomites, which we haven’t visited yet, but it’s definitely on our list. If it’s anything like this one, I already know it’s going to be incredible.

The Room

As soon as we walked into our room, I knew this place was special.

✔️ Spacious and beautifully designed

✔️ Huge windows with a stunning lake view

✔️ Modern but cozy, with calming earthy tones

✔️ A bathroom that felt like a spa in itself

Everything about the room was made to feel serene and luxurious, exactly what you want from the best spa hotel in Italy.

The Spa

Lefay’s spa is one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen—and I’ve been to a lot of spas. This is not just a few saunas and pools thrown together; it’s a full-on wellness retreat that feels thoughtfully designed to make you disconnect completely.

There are tons of different saunas and steam rooms, each with different temperatures and aromas, and indoor and outdoor pools with breathtaking views over Lake Garda. But the most unforgettable experience for me?

The Floating Room & Salt Lake Experience ( Salt Grotto)

The Salt Grotto experience was my absolute favorite. Imagine this:

🔹 Dim lighting, soft music, and a giant glowing moon above you

🔹 A saltwater lake where you effortlessly float, feeling weightless

🔹 Complete relaxation, as if you’re drifting in space for 15 min

It’s a must-do experience, but here’s the catch:

👉 You need to book it in advance and pay extra.

👉 Slots are available every 30 minutes, and it fills up fast—especially on weekends.

I bealive you have a choice to book also a private session, but normally is up to 4 to 6 people I believe.

If you’re planning a visit, make sure you reserve your spot early. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this.

Treatments & Wellness Programs

Lefay offers an extensive menu of spa treatments, from massages to detox programs, but we honestly didn’t book any treatments this time.

There was already so much to experience in the spa itself that we didn’t feel the need for an extra massage. But if you’re looking for a full wellness retreat, Lefay has personalized treatments, energy therapies, and even medical wellness programs.

The Gym

For those who like to stay active, Lefay has a fully equipped gym with everything you need. They also offer private training sessions and yoga classes, so if you’re looking for something beyond relaxation, just ask at the reception.

Food & Dining

Breakfast at Lefay is a dream—a mix of fresh, organic, and healthy options that actually taste amazing. Many guests go to breakfast in their robes, which just adds to the relaxed spa vibe.

We had lunch at the lobby restaurant, where I ordered a salad that was surprisingly perfect—fresh, flavorful, and just what I needed after a morning in the spa.

For dinner, we decided to venture out and drove to Villa Sostaga (read my full review here). This turned out to be an absolute feast, and honestly, the food and setting were so good that it deserved its own post. Villa Sostaga is a hotel as well and we are definetely looking to book it on one of our next trips to Lago di Garda in Italy.

If you prefer to stay in, Lefay’s main restaurant is highly rated, but for a little adventure, exploring nearby restaurants is a great option too.

Final Thoughts: Is Lefay the Best Spa Hotel in Italy?

Without a doubt it is definetely one of the best. I have visitied The Albereta Relaix & Chateux which is right up there for me. It is a different experience all together. Lefay Garda is hands down one of the best spa hotel I’ve been to in Italy, but also in general and I cannot recommend it enough for anyone looking for a true wellness escape.

Why You Should Book Lefay Garda Right Now:

Perfect for a romantic getaway, wellness retreat, or solo reset

Incredible spa with unique experiences like the floating salt lake

Luxury rooms with breathtaking lake views

Healthy, delicious food with plenty of options

Easily accessible from Milan & other major cities

If you’re in need of a spa break in Italy, this is the place. And now, I can’t wait to visit their second location in the Dolomites—because if this one was this good, I can only imagine how amazing the mountain version must be.
